Landfall by alltelleringet Landfall by alltelleringet
I shot the material for this photo in July 2013. It has taken me a lot of time to decide how I wanted it to come together but finally decided, liquid was a lot trickier than I thought to work with. Anyway, I would love to hear your thoughts on it!

What is the first thing that comes to your mind? What is happening?

Your arts are wonderful! I also appreciated the video. It shows how much work and dedication you put on this art, congrats!

My first thought when seeing your pictures is a quote which states: "The world is a like a canvas to your imagination". You're not a painter, but I don't see so much of a different attitude: you use the real world as a canvas, and paint with your mind something that no one would have seen otherwise. Congrats again, your works are awesome.

The house will fall, swallowed by the Earth....that was my first thought.

I love the concept so much. This is one of my favorite pieces by you.

That said, I think that the execution is more effective on the further side, where it looks as if the land is simply rolling over the edge like a waterfall. The nearer side keeps distracting me because it looks more like it is actually becoming a liquid before going over the edge, creating an inconsistency. It takes away from the impact a little, because instead of marveling at the cleverness of your idea, I find myself wondering "what is that? Slime? Why is it turning into that stuff? And why only on one side?"

Hope that makes sense. I still love this for the record!

Great piece, but it tricks my mind as I don't have the feeling that just the surface is flowing down. It's rather the entire soil and earth dragging everything into the ground. Now, the house don't fit in that since it's supposed to go with with the earth and everything, but it can't. I like it!

I'll be critical on this one.

It's not your best work but certainly a good one.
I can see you had a hard time doing the liquid stuff. It looks a bit 3D-ish to me, not very photorealistic.

Well, judging by the fact that the structure there is clearly built specifically with the landflow in mind, I'm thinking that this is a sorta magical place where land flows like water (keeping in mind that this might be a world where that isn't a normal thing) and the mill was built to harness that energy for some sort of industry ^ouo>~

First thing that comes to mind is that I need to move... Again. See that house out there. Yeah. That one. It's going to be gone in a week. *loads up the truck to leave*

Fantastic. Liquids are always tricky to work with in just about any form of work, art or not. You've got the thick, chunky properties of earth flowing over the "landfall". Looks wonderful to me.

Still moving though. Not going to be in the house when it falls of of that.

I feel like all the land will eventually slide off the surface of the earth along with all the stuff in it so we're all gonna die. It looks super cool though!

Liquid dirt... why have regular dirt when you have liquid? I have a strange sudden urge to eat it right now, just looking at it reminds me of fondant-ed cake and ice cream mixed together.  :I

It takes a minute to fully appreciate this piece of art. See on the right the terrain appears to be flowing down the pit just fine without riping, it almost looks like rug. And the terrain on the left seems to melt into some sort of guacamole (that how you spell it?) and at the bottom there is steam making it look like some sort of waterfall.

Excellent work this was hard to pass without favoriting :D
